Part of over $1.1 billion investment to support operational improvements and ensure Ontarians can continue to access high-quality hospital care in their community
WINDSOR — The Ontario government is investing a combined $11.06 million to support improved operations and reduced wait times at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. This funding is part of a $1.1 billion investment into our hospital sector as part of Budget 2026, A Plan to Protect Ontario, which represents a 4 per cent increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row.
“These new investments in our Windsor-Essex hospitals will help ensure that families across will access the timely, high-quality hospital care they deserve, while supporting the dedicated health-care professionals who deliver it every day,” said Andrew Dowie, MPP for Windsor–Tecumseh. “By strengthening operations at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, our government is reducing wait times and building a stronger, more connected health-care system for our growing community.”
The 2026/2027 investment amount for each hospital is as follows:

This investment will help both hospitals strengthen their core clinical services and better meet the needs of patients across the region. At Windsor Regional Hospital, the funding will address inflationary and other wage pressures, reduce wait times for diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures and improve access to MRI, CT, cardiac and stroke services. At Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, the investment will support palliative care, rehabilitation services and programs that assist patients with mental health and addiction recovery.

Ontario continues to make historic investments in health care. Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing approximately $64 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, including the new Fancsy Family Hospital in Windsor-Essex, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first health-care system.
