Windsor — The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport provides annual funding to the Ontario Arts Council to promote the creation and production of Canadian art.  The Bookfest/Festival du Livre 2022 Windsor event was awarded a Project Grant, valued at $12,000, by the Literary Organizations Projects grant program.

The Ontario Arts Council Literary Organizations Projects program supports the professional presentation, and promotion of written and oral Canadian literature in Ontario, and the development of professional, ongoing arts and literary publishing capacity in the province.

BookFest Windsor began in 2002, and in the inaugural year welcomed 450 attendees during its one-day program. Since that time, BookFest has developed partnerships with the University of Windsor, the Windsor Public Library, the Art Gallery of Windsor, the local elementary and secondary schools, local art and music venues, restaurants, and hospitals. In 2012, the festival was included in Canadian Geographic’s list of top literary festivals in Canada. The festival proper has grown to a three-day event, with multiple lead-up activities, presentations and workshops. Attendance at Bookfest events have numbered in the thousands. They will be hosting Bookfest/Festival du livre Windsor 2022 on Thursday, October 13th to Sunday, October 16th. Opening ceremonies will be at Mackenzie Hall and a different venue will be featured each day.
