Windsor — The Government of Ontario is investing a forecasted $35 million through the Ontario Creates Fund to help support Ontario-based book and magazine publishers with marketing initiatives and business development. Biblioasis Publishing is a Windsor-based literary press, and they are a local recipient of the 2022 Book Fund Grant for $95,000.00 .

This funding aims to promote and enhance original content creation in various forms of media, such as book and magazine publishing, film, digital media, and music in addition to positively influencing investment and jobs.

“Since 2004, Biblioasis has developed dozens of beloved local publications and they’re just getting started,” says Windsor—Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie.  “Our government’s support for the many talented authors in our community is impactful, and I thank Premier Doug Ford and Minister Neil Lumsden for their support of arts and culture in Windsor—Tecumseh.”

“The continuing support of Ontario Creates, and through them the Ontario government, has been instrumental to Biblioasis’s growth and success over the past decade,” publisher Dan Wells said, “resulting in millions of dollars in sales over this period and the publishing of many important stories, including numerous local and regional ones. We are grateful for this grant, which will be used to promote important Canadian books, and for their continued faith.”

Since 2019, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport has provided over $148 million of funding for the Ontario Creates grant.
