TECUMSEH— The Government of Ontario is welcoming an investment of $1,696,300 by Hawk Plastics to boost local manufacturing and create 16 new good-paying jobs in Windsor. In support of this investment, our government is providing Hawk Plastics with $254,445 in funding through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.
“Our government is committed to supporting strategic investments that strengthen regional businesses, protect Ontario jobs, and build a more resilient economy,” said Andrew Dowie, MPP for Windsor–Tecumseh. “This investment by Hawk Plastics is a vote of confidence in our region’s manufacturing future, helping to spur innovation, expand operations and create more good-paying jobs for local workers and their families.”
Through this investment, Hawk Plastics will modernize its manufacturing operations at its 5350 Outer Drive facility by installing a new 1,100-ton injection moulding press and undertaking key infrastructure upgrades, including a loading dock, chiller and cooling tower, hydro service improvements, and the relocation of an existing silo. The project will strengthen the company’s competitiveness by increasing production capacity, improving efficiency, reducing dependence on outsourced manufacturing and enabling the launch of a new product line to meet growing and evolving customer needs.

Ontario is investing over $250 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 215 projects through the program, leveraging more than $2.8 billion in new investments and helping to create over 5,900 jobs.

- The government launched the Regional Development Program (RDP) for eastern and southwestern regions of Ontario in November 2019. Through this program, businesses and municipalities can get financial support and guided access to a range of complementary services and supports.
- In 2022, the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) stream of the RDP was launched to support advanced manufacturers across the province. Ontario is now providing additional funds to enhance the AMIC stream that will help more firms with the financial support and tools needed to improve competitiveness, while strengthening essential supply chains.
- The government continues to provide tax support to Ontario manufacturers by continuing to offer the Ontario Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit to eligible businesses.
- Additionally, Ontario has launched a new $150 million Ontario Together Trade Fund to assist local businesses in taking advantage of new interprovincial trade opportunities.
